The next titles shown are the produced by, executive producers, screen story by, screen play by, and directed by titles. There were tree branches like filled in outline images that were prioritized in the opening scene. Then there were grass outlined images that were also filled that were prioritized. There were are also blood dripping images. Then there were images of a spider legs but not the body of the spider. The theme colors of the opening sequence were black and red. Also none of the picture were actually like picture but were more like outlines that were filled in and surrounded by either black or red. I do not believe that these images really have a deeper meaning to them. These images in my opinion...

The next titles shown are the produced by, executive producers, story by, screenplay by, and directed by titles. Images of tape recorders were prioritized in the opening sequence considering they were shown multiple times. The picture of the Hodgsons family was also prioritized. Along with a picture of the Warrens. Images of houses side by side with a road in between the houses with people walking on the sidewalks and cars parked and driving, there were two images like this included in the opening sequence. A picture of small living room along with a desk and bookshelf is also prioritized. Along with an image of a lounge chair in a corner in front of a wall which the paint looks like...

Title Research: Insidious

The titles displayed during the opening sequence include the name of the studio and production company. Next the film displays the actor names, film title, casting by, music by, costume designer, edited by, production designer, and director of photography title. The next titles shown are the produced by, executive producers, written by, and directed by titles. The image of the boy sleeping in bed is prioritized. The image of a demon's face is also prioritized. Images of their living room with moving boxes is also prioritized. Then images of the stair case is prioritized.  An image of a baby's crib in a room is also shown. The image of the boy was one of the first images shown, and was prioritized probably because he's going to be victim or a main character. Then prioritizing the demon's face reveals who the villain is and that there may be people getting possessed in the movie. The image of their living room with the moving boxes is probably to give the audience an idea...

Title Research: Get Out

Image
The titles displayed during the opening sequence include the name of the studio and production company. Next the film displays the actor names, film title, casting by, music by, costume designer, edited by, production designer, and director of photography title. The next titles shown are the produced by, executive producers, written by, and directed by titles. Images prioritized in the opening sequence include a road with cars parked on the sides of the road. The image of woods near a road was also prioritized. Then a photo of a woman’s pregnant belly halfway exposed in a tank top show in black and white.  Then there’s an image of a viscous dog being held on a leash in black and white. There were also images of a modern living room space along with kitchen inside in an apartment. The first image with the parked cars on the side of the road may symbolize the that the area of neighborhood that will be shown in the film may be a little small and crowded. I assume this because t...

Genre Research: The Boy

Image
This movie had a background story that was established in the beginning of the film. I love the way that the background was established in the beginning of the film through pictures and through dialogue too. In my final task I wanted to establish a background through a photograph like a fake family portrait or just a photo of their parents. I was thinking of establishing the background in pieces so that the audience would be able to piece certain things together to understand what's really going on. But, now I am planning on probably establishing the background in my final tasks this way instead. The setting in this film is a house and this is also one of the locations I am going to film at. Although, the house I film at will not be in an isolated area surrounded by trees. This background music was also an element I'd like to base my final tasks on because of the intensity it added to the movie. The setting is also in a more isolated area as well where you don't really see ...

Genre Research: The Conjuring

Image
This movie has the element of the fear of the unknown. Where a family experiences supernatural terrors after moving into their new home. This an element that I want to include in my final task but it will be more of fear of the unseen because only one sister is going to be able to see and hear the spirit/ghost living in their home. Another element of this movie that I will include in my final task is the background music that also helps make the movie scarier. This movie has a plot than increases in intensity throughout the movie; I want to include this element in my final task. There is also a little background to this movie but the "background story" of this house isn't really mentioned until almost halfway into the movie. I want to incorporate this element in my final task but I want to establish a little of the background within the 2 minute time frame. The setting in this movie is a farmhouse in Rhode Island located in the woods surrounded by trees. One of the locati...

Genre Research: Eli

Image
At the start of the movie "Eli", the setting was at the family's home, but later the setting would change to this secluded medical facility. A majority of the the scenes of this movie was filmed at this medical facility. This medical facility resembled a large old house that had been modernized but was still a little . But this movie only had about two settings and I feel like I am also going to film at only a few settings. In this movie the main character, Eli, stuck out from the other characters in a strange way. In my final task I also want my of my my main characters to stick out from others. This movie had a background story to it but did not show any flashback scenes but instead explained the background details surrounding Eli's condition through dialogue. At first I was thinking of just a like a "prior to" kind of scene in the beginning but I think I am going to develop the idea of the girls parents' bein gone through their dialogue.  Another elem...

Watch The Titles Website

Image
I am looking at this website because in need to know what kind of titles and title designs I should include in my film. A lot of opening scenes have either clips in between each title or they have like a cool transition that is almost like a clip but not really. But the transitions take serious topnotch editing skills to accomplish. I see that there are some films that show their titles in the beginning and some at the end. The ones in the beginning do look better though and in my opinion make the most sense. Some films have different title fonts than the credit fonts but most of them have the same font all throughout. Although those who do use the same font usually make the title's font bigger. In the titles they not only mention the cast but they also mention people like casting producers, associate producers. Which some films don't really get that far into naming names and giving credit. But it may be due to them having a large number of people helping out.

Art Of The Title Website

Image
I am looking at this site because I need to know what titles and title designs I need to include in my film. While researching I noticed that there was a large variety of fonts used in titles. I also noticed that some films would use a consistent font while other would use multiple. There some fonts with would alternate between lowercase and uppercase when typing to create a word. Like some letters are smaller than others and some are larger. I also noticed how some films would put the films name at the end when showing all the other titles. While on the other hand some films would put show the name first. Some shows would show multiple little clips of things associated with the film that was shown between each title. While other shows would insert their titles back to back. I feel like the clips in between titles makes more sense though.

Genre Research: Horror and Action

In my first PowerPoint I cover the conventions seen in action. In this PowerPoint I listed the common lighting in drama, low key lighting, along with a picture. Next I listed the common camera angle seen in drama, canted/ dutch angle, with a picture example. Then I stated the common mis-en-scenes in drama, costumes and makeup, with 3 photos as examples. Then I included two movie posters as examples of action movies. Then I included a list of all the elements in drama. Then I stated what elements of drama I liked and did not like.  In my second PowerPoint I covered the conventions seen in horror. In my PowerPoint I stated the common camera angle seen in horror, low angle, plus an example. Next I stated the common camera shot in horror, establishing shot, with an example. Then I stated the common camera movement, tracking shot. Afterwards, I listed the common CLAMPS seen in horror films like clown costumes, low key lighting, bloody makeup, and props like knives. I also included image...

Genre Research: Drama

This is a powerpoint that covers the conventions we see in drama. In this powerpoint I stated a common lighting in drama, natural film lighting, and I also included an example. I listed a common camera angle in drama with a picture example. I also listed a common movement often seen in drama along with an example. Then I listed the common Mise-En-Scene in drama with examples. I then listed the elements of drama. I included 3 example films of drama. I also included the common sound in drama and an example video. I got my example video from YouTube. Inserting this video into my project was not very easy at first. But eventually I figured out how to insert videos from the internet into a PowerPoint. I listed what elements of drama that I liked. I also listed what elements of drama I did not appeal to me. I used transitions between my slides. I also had a dramatic song playing throughout the project. All of the pictures I used as examples in my project I got from google. This project helpe...

Genre Decision Blog

Image
The genre of my opening will be horror. I chose to do the genre horror because I feel like horror is more of an attention grabber. When making my opening sequence I want to really avoid making my intro look like a trailer. So choosing horror as my genre will help me avoid making this mistake. For example in the beginning of most horror films it does not jump directly into the scary parts but instead it aims towards either establishing the background or building a storyline. I also made my decision based off my resources and what I have available. My resources are not really 'limited' but there are many things that Ii just don't have access to. Like people to play specific roles like I feel like horror films do not really require a large cast. In horror films it is often seen that there are only a couple main characters. At first I considered action but I did not feel like I was capable of doing all the 'epic' scenes. I also knew that I would not find anyone else tha...

My Pitch

Image
First Pitch: An 11 year old boy who secretly has a crush on his friend's older sister who gets a boyfriend. Starts to plot against her boyfriend.  Second Pitch: Two young girls' parents pass away, the older sister is healing and moving on but the younger sister still communicates with her dead parents. I would be more interested in making the second pitch. The second pitch is very easy to add so much detail to effortlessly. While the first pitch is good but there isn’t much you can add to the storyline within the first two minutes to really give viewers good content.  Using my second pitch I could definitely incorporate a lot of interesting events within the first two minutes of the film to really get my viewers hooked. I could even include a short little background story in the start about how the girls lived prior to the passing away of their parents. Then after I could show a scene of how they live present day which would be a drastic change. It can probably be a 2 year lat...

Starting the Final Task

Image
Hello my name is Nachera Fenelus. I will work independently on this project. I chose to work by myself because I would not want to partner up with someone or join a group and have to rely on them to do their part. Working with partners can be difficult, because everyone will not always agree with one another. In some cases, small disagreements between the group can negatively affect the entire project. Also, it would be difficult to film with a group because I am still at home e-learning. I would not feel comfortable meeting with a partner or a group to film because still in a pandemic. I have not met many of my classmates so I do not know how reliable or unreliable my peers are therefore I would rather take the safe bet and work independently. Working alone gives me more creative and I don’t have to worry about who will agree with my idea or not. I am confident that I will be able to complete this project individually. This also allows me to have a more flexible schedule when it comes...
