Genre Research: The Conjuring

This movie has the element of the fear of the unknown. Where a family experiences supernatural terrors after moving into their new home. This an element that I want to include in my final task but it will be more of fear of the unseen because only one sister is going to be able to see and hear the spirit/ghost living in their home. Another element of this movie that I will include in my final task is the background music that also helps make the movie scarier. This movie has a plot than increases in intensity throughout the movie; I want to include this element in my final task. There is also a little background to this movie but the "background story" of this house isn't really mentioned until almost halfway into the movie. I want to incorporate this element in my final task but I want to establish a little of the background within the 2 minute time frame. The setting in this movie is a farmhouse in Rhode Island located in the woods surrounded by trees. One of the locations I will film at will also be a house just not a farm house and will not be surrounded by trees. An element that did appeal to me was the exorcism because I feel like it definitely helped make the movie scarier. It was also really cool how during the exorcism when they asked the demon to "reveal their face" part of the blanket ripped over the girl's head ripped a little a bit and showed part of the demon's faces. This showed that their daughter really was possessed by the land who used to own the land. Another element of this movie I liked was the scary setting they established. Filming at a house in the woods with barely any surroundings really helped developed the idea of them being helpless and isolation.  In this movie there were times where characters would sleep walk or wake up due to paranormal disturbances; I loved this element because it showed how much this evil spirit disrupted their lives. An element of this film that didn't appeal to me were the protagonists, Ed Warren along with his wife Lorraine, who helped fight off the evil spirits in their home. Another element of this movie that did not really appeal to me were the bloody scenes. Firstly, the only bloody scene that had a memorable amount of blood in the scene was the exorcism scene. The bloody scene did not appeal to me because there was barely any blood in the scene in my personal opinion. I feel like if they added more blood the scene would have came out a little better.

I was supposed to record scenes 5 and 6 this weekend but due to the weather I was unable to.  It was raining all day on Saturday, so I did not record the scene that day because the roads were slippery and I was prioritizing my safety. Then on Sunday, my parents weren't available to film from the passenger seat that day. And my permit requires me to be accompanied by a driver who is at least 21 years old in the passenger seat while driving. So I hope that I'll be able to film scenes 5 and 6 some time this week, maybe Thursday or Saturday I'm not quite sure yet. I'm just trying to get these two specific scenes filmed as soon as I possibly can be I do believe that they'll be the most difficult to film. I was also trying to film scene 7 on Friday but I couldn't because I needed to move the couch to in front of the tv. But I couldn't because the living room space was pretty crowded with just large boxes so I decided to hold off on filming that scene until this sp...

The titles displayed during the opening sequence include the name of the studio and production company. Next the film displays the actor names, film title, casting by, music by, costume designer, edited by, production designer, and director of photography title. The next titles shown are the produced by, executive producers, written by, and directed by titles. The image of the boy sleeping in bed is prioritized. The image of a demon's face is also prioritized. Images of their living room with moving boxes is also prioritized. Then images of the stair case is prioritized.  An image of a baby's crib in a room is also shown. The image of the boy was one of the first images shown, and was prioritized probably because he's going to be victim or a main character. Then prioritizing the demon's face reveals who the villain is and that there may be people getting possessed in the movie. Production Blog-Filming

In my previous blog I got a majority of the props I need for my film. I was only missing a picture fame and I finally got it over the weekend. So let's rewind to last week, when I filmed scenes 1, 2, 3, and 4. Scenes 1 through 4 Ashlynn, the older sister, only wore one costume. On the other hand Rena, the younger sister, changed costumes in scene 3. Filming the first scene went pretty smoothly overall. Scene 2 took a long time to record because we had to restart multiple times to reshoot. In scene 2, my sister and I often had to refer back to the script. Scenes 3 and 4 were pretty easy to film and didn't take too many tries. One of the biggest problems I faced while filming was trying to avoid the director from being seen in the mirror or showing the camera. My sister who helped me with directing also had this problem where it was hard to avoid being seen in the mirror.
