Genre Research: Eli
At the start of the movie "Eli", the setting was at the family's home, but later the setting would change to this secluded medical facility. A majority of the the scenes of this movie was filmed at this medical facility. This medical facility resembled a large old house that had been modernized but was still a little . But this movie only had about two settings and I feel like I am also going to film at only a few settings. In this movie the main character, Eli, stuck out from the other characters in a strange way. In my final task I also want my of my my main characters to stick out from others. This movie had a background story to it but did not show any flashback scenes but instead explained the background details surrounding Eli's condition through dialogue. At first I was thinking of just a like a "prior to" kind of scene in the beginning but I think I am going to develop the idea of the girls parents' bein gone through their dialogue. Another element that appealed to me were the ghostly figures seen in the movie. These ghostly figures that would appear in the mirror and draw on the window definitely added a scary touch. Although this movie did not necessarily have a villain, there were characters in the film with bad intentions towards Eli, the main character. There were also characters who were aware of Eli's actually condition while some weren't. This secret keeping made the plot twist even more dramatic this is an element that appealed to me in this movie. An element of this movie I liked was definitely the plot twist towards the end. This element of surprise towards the end really made the movie so much better. The setting was not typical in my opinion considering it was a house, I would have expected a hospital but it was really cool. I also loved how at first they only established some of the background story and later put the pieces together by including the element of surprise towards the ending. Another element of this movie I loved definitely had to be the background music. The background music fit the scenes so well and really created that dramatic effect to show the intensity of each scene. There were not any elements of this movie I did not like.
