Critical Reflection Questions
1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?
Conventions are used all throughout my commercial. I included a comparison between leading value brand diapers and Pampers diapers in my commercial, as a visual demonstration. This helped emphasize how much more pampers absorb and how much drier Pampers are compared to the leading value brand. Diapers that are absorbent and dry are an ideal choice for parents when regarding their children. Another convention included in my commercial were Pampers diapers. Including Pampers in my commercial was not optional, especially since the product I was promoting in the commercial where Pampers. Also, I used a baby in the commercial. The baby was modeling the product, Pampers diaper, while sleeping. The Pampers’ slogan “love sleep & play” is also included at the end of the commercial.
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
My commercial engages with parents, guardians, and caretakers of babies and toddlers. This commercial’s target audience are parents of young children who wear diapers or babies. My product would be distributed as a commercial that would be viewed in between tv breaksand on Youtube in between, before, or after videos.
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
I learned a lot more about iMovie and how it works. For example, I learned how to add sound to my video if the sound is from YouTube. I learned how to cut sounds to fit into specific parts of the video. I learn how to cut the length of my videos directly off of iMovie instead of having to go back into my camera roll to edit from there. I learned how I learned a lot more about iMovie and how it works. For example, I learned how to add sound to my video if the sound is from YouTube and how to cut it to fit in the video.to create a pan from right to left. Additionally, I learned that taking multiple takes of a scene and saving them for later is important . So that if something does not come out right then you can try and use another clip you already have recorded of the same scene.
4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
I recorded my project off of an iPhone 11 pro max. I edited my commercial directly off of my iPhone. I edited my commercial using iMovie and the simple editing features provided in my camera roll. In my camera roll I can cut the length of my videos, add filters, draw and more. While in iMovie I can mute my original videos and add multiple sounds over the video. In iMovie I can also add text to the video that displays on the screen. For my fourth scene I used a clip from Youtube. I had to export my video and save it into my camera roll and from there I sent it to myself through gmail. Once I sent it to myself I opened my gmail on the laptop and downloaded it from my gmail onto my laptop. Then I uploaded my video onto my Youtube channel so that I’d be able to embed it into my blog.
