Filming Blog
I began to film my music video on November 24th and I have not finished filming yet. I already filmed the first nine scenes of my video. On the first day that I started recording (November 24th) I recorded the first six scenes. The next day (November 25th) I recorded the seventh, eighth, and ninth scene. I did not film the last three scenes yet because there was a change of plans. Unfortunately, one of my backup dancers got sick before our scheduled meet-up. As a result I began to think of ways that I could make this work just in case if she does not get better by this week. I thought of using this filming app called TikTok and use this “clone trio” effect on the app that shows three clones of yourself in a video. This could have solved my problem and guarantee synchronization between me and the back up dancers. But whenever you save a video off of this app it says TikTok and your username in the corner of the video. Prior to filming any of these scenes I had to go watch the original music video and determine from what time I was going to start and end the song. This was to give me a guide of how my video would fit this 1 minute time frame and have the music start and end from a reasonable part of the song. This was especially important for my sixth scene because I actually lip sync up close to the camera so I had to know the lyrics for this scene. For the first scene, I had to move some furniture out of the way so that I would be able to film right up against the wall with a clear space behind me. I recorded the second scene in my hallway as I walked towards the camera. Then I changed into a different outfit for the third scene to record myself dancing to the music. I then record my fourth and fifth scene back to back. I recorded my sixth scene while sitting on the ground facing the camera, I had my sister record me from a close up view and I plan out cropping the video more later on, if necessary. I recorded the seventh, eighth, and ninth scene on the same day and wore my first outfit. The seventh and eighth scene weren’t coming out correctly at first but after multiple attempts I think it has come out decent. But I may go back and reshoot those scenes to see if I can have them turn out better than what I’m working with now. I plan to finish filming the rest of my music video before December 3rd.
