Production Blog- Filming with a Dash of Editing
In my last blog I stated that I finished filming scenes 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Filming these scenes were pretty challenging but I was successful in filming. However I did not know the obstacles that awaited for me ahead. When filming scene 5 it was really hard to go from filming on the phone holder to filming by hand. Trying to record while driving is pretty difficult because holding the camera still is almost impossible. It took and extremely long time to film these car scenes, I took so many retakes. We were driving through our neighborhood for around 15 minutes total trying to get things right. For scene 6, where Ashlynn picked Rena up from school, Ashlynn was originally going to be seated in the passenger side as she did in the previous scene (scene 5). But I soon noticed that it didn't make sense for two sisters to have a conversation while one is in the passenger of an Uber and one is sitting in the backseat alone. I believed this did not make sense because if one sister had the interest of talking to the other with a stranger present, then it would only make sense for the two to sit near each other. This would allow the conversation to be a bit more private and would just make a little more sense. Today I went and bought the picture frame, which happened to be the only prop I was missing. Now that I had the frame I was going to film that one title I was missing with the picture of the parents as the background. But I was unable to print the picture of the "parents" today because I wasn't able to go and print the picture today. However, I do plan to print this photo out very soon hopefully this Saturday. But the latest is Sunday because I would like to finish editing before Monday. So far I have done a little bit of editing but I'm going to really do more of this over the weekend. So far I have cut just a few of my videos a little shorter on the software iMovie. I also muted a lot of the videos that did not have dialogue relating to the final task. The only videos I still haven't cut are the title slides because I tried to keep my titles a little short but also a little longer just in case of things get weird. So far the time requirement isn't really issue for me because I'm currently a little over two minutes but I still haven't fully cut my videos down especially my titles. But I'm practically done with filming besides that one title but now it's time to tackle on the editing process of it all.
