Production Blog-Filming

In my previous blog I got a majority of the props I need for my film. I was only missing a picture fame and I finally got it over the weekend. So let's rewind to last week, when I filmed scenes 1, 2, 3, and 4. Scenes 1 through 4 Ashlynn, the older sister, only wore one costume. On the other hand Rena, the younger sister, changed costumes in scene 3. Filming the first scene went pretty smoothly overall. Scene 2 took a long time to record because we had to restart multiple times to reshoot. In scene 2, my sister and I often had to refer back to the script. Scenes 3 and 4 were pretty easy to film and didn't take too many tries. One of the biggest problems I faced while filming was trying to avoid the director from being seen in the mirror or showing the camera. My sister who helped me with directing also had this problem where it was hard to avoid being seen in the mirror. Like for the title slide background with me in it, it was supposed to be a over the shoulder shot. But this wasn’t working out despite all our efforts. So as an alternative we decided my sister should record me from the side but close enough to still see the mirror. I also filmed some of the titles that I hadn’t filmed before. The title “executive producer” was going to have a telephone as the background but I changed it to candles instead. When filming this it was hard to get the candle lit because the lighter was hard to work with and I was so afraid of burning myself. But when I eventually lit the candles I filmed I filmed the candles on the dresser in the dark. I tried filming scene 5 but it just was not working out at all, despite my efforts.  I'm thinking about just removing scene 5 and probably keeping the concept but I feel like without scene 5 the 4th scene won't make sense. I think I'll just show her getting picked up for school or something similar to that.
